An angel investor's take on life and business

What if you could control your computer with brain sensors in your hat? What if you could share the joy of having a pet with others? What if human technology could help your pet live longer? These are 3 startups I’m looking for now…

Removable Brain-Computer Interfaces

On these cool September mornings, one of the first things I do is put on a hat. My bald head gets cold!

What if that hat contained electronics that could control my computer?

I’d love to see removable brain-computer interfaces that could fit in a hat or headband. This has a much lower barrier to adoption than putting electrodes in the brain.

Technology moves fast! We don’t want to have to replace those outdated electrodes a few years later. It’s much easier to just replace the hat!

I already use Wispr Flow to dictate most of the text I write. Imagine if I could do it with just my mind.

We could accomplish so much more!

Chatroulette, But With Golden Retrievers

I had a wonderful time at a minipig cafe and a hedgehog cafe during my trip to Tokyo in May. Unfortunately, there are very few animal cafes in the U.S.

What if we could make it easy to see cute animals anytime from home?

I could do a FaceTime with an adorable Golden Retriever in Texas. Perhaps for an extra charge, he could do a little trick!

This would give a nice income stream to pet owners. Veterinary care is getting really expensive these days.

Best of all, it helps spread joy in the world.

Ezra for Pets

Many humans are getting full-body MRIs with technologies like Ezra and Prenuvo. They help spot cancer and other issues early, when they’re much easier to treat.

Why don’t we do this with our pets?

We could spot a tumor in your dog when it’s the size of a pebble. This could give you many more happy years together.

Using MRIs on pets is not unprecedented.

I once did a behind-the-scenes tour of the Animal Medical Center in New York City. They scan sick pets with used human MRI machines.

It’s time to expand to preventive scans too!

Wrap-Up

I want to put on a hat, open my browser with my mind, and chat with a cute dog. And I want that dog to get the preventive care he needs to live a long, healthy life.

If you’re building in one of these three areas — brain-computer interfaces, FaceTime for pets, or animal body scans — shoot me a message

I’m excited to learn more about what you’re doing!
