$6.19 — that’s how much diesel costs at the gas station down the street. All because of the Iran War.

Is it worth it? That depends on how close Iran was to getting a nuclear bomb.

Just How Close Was Iran to Getting a Nuke?

Say Iran was right on the cusp of developing a nuclear weapon when the war started. Most of us would agree that the 18 troops killed is an acceptable price to pay, as awful as those deaths are.

And a temporary spike in gas prices? Nothing compared to the danger of a nuclear Iran.

But if Iran wasn’t close to developing a nuclear weapon, the war isn’t worth it.

We won’t know how close Iran was until the intelligence is declassified. That’s likely to be many years from now.

The biggest mistake President Trump made is not building a stronger case for war with the American public.

He could have been 100% right on the decision to bomb Iran. But without convincing the bulk of Americans, he’ll never have the support he needs.

What America Should Do Today

How should we handle Iran right now?

The main job is to get the Strait of Hormuz open. This will let oil prices fall and take a lot of pressure off our economy.

We don’t need to insist on inspecting Iranian nuclear sites. Any nuclear program they had, we’ve surely blown sky-high long ago.

This will remove one sticky issue from negotiations.

My gut tells me Trump was right to bomb Iran. If a man who was never a warmonger in his first term suddenly decided to launch a huge bombing campaign, he probably had a good reason.

Maybe you totally disagree with me. Either way, the path forward is clear.

We’ve bombed everything. Now, we need to get the Strait open and end the war.

It’s time to prioritize what Americans need here at home.
